Abu Dhabi Plans New City For One Million People
The Abu Dhabi Municipality has completed the plans for a new city to be established in southern Al Shamkha area. The city will accommodate around one million people.
The municipality is currently distributing 10,000 residential plots of land to citizens to build their houses.
Eng Salim Al Moamari, CEO of services sector at the Abu Dhabi Municipality, told Khaleej Times that the project would contribute to solving the housing problem, as the municipality is currently aiming to attract residents from the capital to the new cities, such as south Al Shamkha city. The design provides all utilities and has taken account of all elements of decent living conditions, he said
According to Eng Al Moamari, the central part of the city will include around 21 shopping malls, a big hotel, recreation areas, offices, sports stadium, retail stores, public yards for ceremonies and national events and many more.
The project will later expand to cover an area of approximately 43 million hectares, this will transform the project to an attraction area for residents, an area with excellent services and charming nature, expanding over several residential compounds along the Emirates highway, what in turn provides more services and easy access to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain through modern transport network.
