Perth Apartment Makes a Positive Record!
Yes you read that right -this post is actually about a positive record for a Western Australian property. I'm quite excited really - its a long time since there has been a positive statistic around here.
The well-hyped, and nearly completed Peninsular Burswood apartment tower complex has just set a record. A penthouse apartment in the Aurora tower has sold off the plan for $4.2 million. That's are record for the development - the previous highest price being held for just 5 months by an apartment which went for $3.8 million.
The Peninsular Burswood is the 4th tower being built in the billion dollar development. The $4.2 million penthouse is a two-story running across the 20th and 21st floors. This will give it stunning sweeping views across the Swan River to the CBD, and Burswood Park Golf Course.
The penthouse features 353 sqm of internal space plus an additional 167 sqm of balcony which includes a hot tub and an out door kitchen (no not just a bbq - a full blown kitchen, sink the lot) . Access to the 3-bedroom penthouse will be via a lobby which only services the three penthouses in the building.
The property sold after only a few days on the market, but if you missed out there are still other properties available in the Aurora tower which when completed in early 2010, will include 130 two, three and four-bedroom apartments.

The previous tower in the group, the Allegro, sold penthouses off-the-plan for $2.2 million in 2002, one resold in 2007 for $3.5 million - so maybe there is still money to be made in the top quality end of the apartment market.
Spread out Perth has never suffered from the over-supply problems with apartments which Melbourne has battled with over the last few years. The Burswood towers are perfectly situated - their views will never be built out and the CBD is a very quick ferry/train/car ride away. What they lack is the beach - but many people prefer rivers and other inland waterways.
If you are interested in lake front property check out this Texas mansion lakeside or this German lakeside property - both very, very nice looking properties, though a little over budget for most of us!
