Property Investment in Greece: Investing In Life

When I mention that I live in Greece, people become very jealous, automatically assuming that we are blessed with all-year sunshine and warm azure seas. The reality is that the weather in Greece is very cold and very wet for three months of the year. Winter in the Peloponnese was spent huddled around the wood-stove, wrapped in blankets.

Still, we would not choose anywhere else to live, and the bad weather is a transient beast. Winter is almost over, and spring is slowly unfolding in the Greek mountains, as the land awakens from its hibernation. We look ahead to a long spell of undisturbed warmth and evening swims in the Aegean. Our property investment in Greece has given us a wonderful quality of life, away from the stress of the UK.

Surviving the winter is a struggle, but the fresh spring air makes the long, cold nights more bearable. The spring is the most beautiful and romantic part of the year, the crisp blue sky contrasting with the virgin snow on the jagged peaks. Already, the spring flowers are starting to bloom, carpeting the mountains in a kaleidoscope of colours.

The Greeks are also emerging from their hibernation and the tavernas, closed throughout the winter, are gradually coming back to life. The evenings are becoming longer and warmer, and we look forward to long and lazy evening meals, set against the backdrop of the setting sun.

Greece is a beautiful country, and living on the tumbling slopes of the Taygetos Mountains makes every day unique, a new experience. Instead of merely existing, and greeting every new day as a burden, we embrace it and live for the moment.

Property investment in Greece is investing in life. Buying property in Greece is not about making money, but about enjoying every moment, taking pleasure in the simple things. Good food, fine wine and, most importantly, great company, are just some of the reasons for buying a retirement home in Greece.
